NEW DISPLAY GARDEN @ Deep Creek

When you next visit Deep Creek Reserve, you will notice that the garden immediately next to the main building has been transformed. The garden was designed by our Nursery Manager with initial landscape guidance from Chris at Legacy Parks and Gardens. It is based on Aboriginal Cultural use plants found on Bunurong lands from Coastal 2/3rd dune system plants through a dry creek bed to the foothill temperate zones.

Groups that assisted with the construction and planting were the Nursery Volunteers and Jobseekers, Bunurong Land Council employees, Outlook gardening group and a special Thank you to Cooper, Kaegen and Tony O’Hara for working through some very hot days just to get it done. .

Creation of this garden was originally unable to proceed for many years because of problems with drainage in that area of Deep Creek Reserve. This was rectified in 2023 and we thank Cardinia Shire Council for the wonderful work they organised. We also thank The Andrews Foundation and Lendlease through their nearby Averley project for financial support. As with the other display gardens at Deep Creek Reserve, this will ultimately add to the pleasure for visitors but, also, will allow customers of CEC Nursery to see a range of plants grown to maturity. It will of course also provide habitat for a range of species.
